PACKING
Clothing: The climate at the Château is fairly temperate due to the fact that it is at a fairly low elevation (1600 ft.) and because it is on a lake, which warms the air. Therefore, it only receives snow a few times during the winter, whereas if one ascends into the mountains even a few hundred feet, the snow can accumulate much more. There are several considerations when selecting clothing:
For Europeans, day-to-day clothing is a bit more formal. Jeans and t-shirts are not as common as blouses, button-down shirts, dresses, and pants.
The weather in Switzerland (even during the summer) can be unpredictable. We recommend that you pack layers that can be taken on and off.
We receive rain throughout the year, so we recommend you bring an umbrella.
If you will be serving during the academic year, you will want to bring a warm snow coat.
