Complete the below form if you would like to travel to a country during the semester
that the university does not automatically approve.
Please note:
Submit this Exemption Request at least 30 days before your trip.
Only one member of a team needs to submit an Exemption Request.
The university only allows travel to countries in the world that are rated as Level 1 (white) or Level 2 (yellow), according to the U.S. Department of State’s travel risk rating system.
Therefore, any countries that are Yellow With Lines (Level Two, with regions that are Level 3 or Level 4), Level 3, or Level 4 require a university review and exemption to allow students to travel to these locations.
University approval to travel to Level 3 or Level 4 countries is very rare.
Extra travel insurance is required for every University trip to Israel due to challenges with war/terrorism coverage because of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. This insurance has a minimum premium which must be paid by the student, likely at least $500 and probably more than $1,000. If you are not interested in paying for this insurance, perhaps you should consider traveling to Israel between the semesters or after the program is finished.
The process:
Submit a Exemption Request (it will be sent directly to Ezra Plank)
Ezra Plank will discuss the request with the Pepperdine International Travel Risk Assessment Team, and will follow up with the trip organizer if there are questions.
A Pepperdine representative will email all travelers with a decision, hopefully within a week.
