Intercultural Conference 2019: The Listening Summit
PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY, an American university with a small campus in Lausanne, organizes an academic conference each year to bring together its American university students and local university students in Switzerland.
Dr. Drew Kahn lectures at the 2018 Pepperdine University Intercultural conference.
DESCRIPTION: This conference will focus on themes of listening and storytelling as avenues to intercultural understanding, reconciliation, identity exploration, and community building. While conference will feature some lecture and discussion on the power of narrative, it will primarily use interactive and creative components, allowing students to share their cultural perspectives through story-telling!
FACILITATOR: Dr. Drew Kahn is a full professor at State University of New York (Buffalo State, USA), Director of the Anne Frank Project, and recipient of the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at SUNY. He is an international speaker and activist, and has been instrumental in establishing Teaching Centers in Rwanda and Kenya.

Time and Date: meet at Pepperdine University (see a map here) at 13h00 on 8 November 2019, and return at 17h00 on 10 November.
Location: Hôtel des Trois Couronnes in Vevey (http://www.hoteltroiscouronnes.ch/en/).
Cost: 40 CHF (all inclusive - conference registration, hotel, meals, and transportation from the Pepperdine University campus in Lausanne).
Lodging: Each student will be paired with an American student (of the same gender) for lodging at the hotel.
Transportation: All students will be transferred from Lausanne to Vevey and back by hired bus.
